I strongly support the rezoning. This is an essential and positive cornerstone of our community. ONCDC provides quality childcare with thoughtfulness and environmentally conscious practices. There will be enough pieces to pick up in the wake of this pandemic. Quality childcare and institutions like this need to be supported.

I strongly support the rezoning. There is a significant lack of high quality childcare in this area and the data demonstrates the impact of high quality early childhood educational experiences. My daughter was a graduate of ONCDC, and we couldn't have been more pleased to have her at ONCDC.

I support the proposed rezoning. As a working mom, I know the struggle and anxiety associated with searching for quality childcare in Albemarle County. While I have no direct connection with ONCDC, through my friends I am familiar with the value ONCDC adds to them and to this community.

I support the proposed rezoning. The existing shortage of quality childcare in C’ville will likely be exacerbated by COVID-19 fallout. I want to see ONCDC stay here, where it has a positive multiplier effect by caring for children while training wonderful new teachers. ONCDC staff already mitigates its environmental impact by minimizing plastic use, encouraging re-use, composting, and recycling. I am sure that their careful stewardship will extend to the care of the land at 1395 Stony Point Rd.

I strongly support the rezoning of 1395 Stony Point Road. Our Neighborhood CDC is an environmentally conscious entity which strives at every turn to mitigate their impact on the environment. I am confidant they will do their utmost to minimize the parking lot’s impact on the surrounding green space.

ONCDC played a pivotal role in my development as a parent and I firmly believe other parents deserve an opportunity to access their knowledge and expertise on child development and care.

I strongly support the rezoning. ONCDC provides high-quality childcare for dozens of children and families, and employs its teachers at a living wage with healthcare. This is admirable. Communities need good childcare; what is good for families is good for society. Charlottesville lacks sufficient access - local daycares have LONG wait lists (and often don't pay well). The loss of ONCDC would have significant ripple effects in our economy.

I strongly support the proposed rezoning to allow ONCDC to open its daycare on this site. Now, more than ever, we need to plan for a future that includes high quality care where children learn emotional resilience and adults can return to work confident that their child is in excellent care. ONCDC is one of five NAEYC accredited programs locally and the other four are not all opened to the public. ONCDC emphasizes outdoor play & environmental awareness. I am confident they will be good stewards.

I work in the ECE field as an editor of professional development materials for educators and as a certified observer of classrooms. The kind of quality care provided at Our Neighborhood is rare and deserves our community's support. I have made no back-up plans for my daughter's care because there is no comparable option available to me in our area. Jenn's vision of expansion will create much-needed spaces for children of working parents where there is currently a severe shortage.

I strongly support the rezoning request for ONCDC. My children both “graduated” from the program and I feel it is one of the strongest early childhood education programs in our area. A larger facility will allow for expanded access to children in our community. Their focus on community, sustainability, safety, and healthy development should be encouraged and nurtured.

As an Albemarle County resident, I strongly support the rezoning of 1395 Stony Point Rd for ON. We have been a member of the ON community for 5+ yrs, with 3 children in the program over the years. At one point we considered moving to northern VA, but decided to stay because of ON. It's rare to find a program for infant-to-3 and soon to be preschool that places high value and emphasis on social/emotional development, respectful learning, and a loving environment; ON delivers on all this and more.

RE: parking located in the floodplain: In Attachment I, according to staff Proffer 7 (to build a vegetative buffer, specifically a bio retention filter strip) "will work to mitigate potential detriment that may be caused by having a parking located in the floodplain", and the summary below Proffer 7 states "Neither the Zoning Ordinance or the Water Protection Ordinance specifically prohibits parking within the floodplain".

I fully support the rezoning of 1395 Stony Point Road for ONCDC.

I support the Child Development Center. However, concerned about future development on the property such as commercial spaces and office buildings. In addition, I am concerned about the environmental impact of the future development and parking area on the stream located on the property.

This project is very poorly defined. It suggests that a day care center may or may not be established on the site but it also suggests that a number of other buildings will be built for unknown purposes. And the parking will all be located in a flood plain. First of all flood plains are called flood plains because they FLOOD. This is an inappropriate place to locate a parking lot and here there would be an unknown number of parking spaces.

I strongly support the rezoning of ONCDC. High quality early childhood education is very important to me, and essential for the community. After college, I had an hour commute and ultimately moved for this job because the work done here is so vital. ON has supported me as a parent and a teacher for years, truly caring for all that come through their doors, parent, teacher, and community member alike. ON supports sustainability and green space for children to play and thrive.

I strongly support the rezoning of ONCDC. This school provides an essential resource for families and children, as well as community support through child care classes and training. Both of our kids attended the school and they helped our family navigate parenting and supported our kids through many milestones.

I strongly support the rezoning of 1395 Stony Point Road for ONCDC. Because high quality early childcare has long lasting effects on a child's future social and academic development, it is vital that the community support businesses that offer this service in our community. In addition, promoting sustainability & minimizing environmental impact are core to the mission of ONCDC. Thus, ONCDC contributes to immediate and long-term economic growth while also preserving green space.

I strongly support the rezoning for ONCDC. I was born, raised and still remain a resident of Albemarle County and can tell you without a shred of doubt that ONCDC is a vital service for our community. This center plays an instrumental role in providing high-quality child care for families, something currently lacking within our community. The expansion of this school will allow for opportunities for ONCDC to grow, so their services can continue to positively impact the greater community.

We strongly support the proposed rezoning of 1395 Stony Point Road for Our Neighborhood Child Development Center. As Albemarle County residents, we support a small business that pays a living wage, makes it possible for parents to remain in the workforce, provides community outreach classes, and is attentive to nature. With the dearth of high quality child care, which impacts so many important community issues, supporting a business like ONCDC is even more important to us.

I strongly encourage the rezoning of this parcel to provide much needed childcare in our community. With the new large development across the street, I find this to be a great location for this type of service and see no issues with the rezoning!

I strongly support the rezoning of Our Neighborhood. This center played an instrumental role in the development of our children, and it is essential for it to be able to provide the same environment for children like ours to be able to grow and realize their potential.
