I hope that the Board will recognize the importance of addressing climate change and protecting biodiversity. We can do this by preserving blocks of forest and therefore benefit from the ecosystem services provided by this tree cover. Growth destroys forests. It adds to traffic congestion. It puts pressure our water resources, public facilities and services, It increases the amount of impervious surfaces. More pavement and fewer trees make for a hotter world. Please do not open the flood gates of growth by expanding the development areas. Keep future growth densely clustered near shopping, places of work, and schools so that we might have walkable communities connected through greenways.
