My name is Naomi Beck and I am a volunteer with the DSA.I am a resident of Charlottesville, not Albemarle, but I have been actively working with the Housing Justice Committee at both Albemarle & CVille courts for the past 7 months and want to share some of what I have observed. I am sorry I am not able to attend the meeting today, but I have attached a letter outlining my experience and the need for Right to Counsel, and have also emailed it to the BOS directly. I believe the letter helps speak to the massive cracks in our current system and provides context for why this program is so crucial. I appreciate you taking the time to read it and I am happy to do whatever I can to help get this program created.
