Please accept this as opposition to the Draft Ordinance No. 20-A( ) (9/8/20), which would extend the current restrictions further. Once again, you are basing this decision on outdated and flawed metrics. You cite to the (irrelevant) TJHD positivity rate as of 9/8 of 6.4%, whereas as of today, that (irrelevant) rate is 5.5% and continuing its steady decline. You refer to uncertainty with returning students, when what is certain is that 1) while those in the 10-19 and 20-29 demographics (which would include UVA students) comprise a large percentage of cases, they comprise a miniscule percentage of hospitalizations in the TJHD (and zero deaths), and 2) speaking of which, there is still no legitimate concern with UVA's capacity (both beds and staffing) to handle an increase in hospitalizations--just as there was no such concern when you passed the last ordinance. Our county needs to be going to other way--toward re-opening and restarting sports, gatherings, etc.
