18. 20-342 Ordinance to Change the Name of the Cale Voting Precinct and the Cale Elementary School Polling Place Location. To receive comments on its intent to adopt an ordinance to amend County Code Chapter 2, Administration, Article I, Elections, by amending § 2-105, Scottsville Magisterial District, to change the name of the Cale Precinct to Mountain View Precinct, and to change the name of the polling place in the Cale Precinct from Cale Elementary School to Mountain View Elementary School, to reflect the name change of the elementary school by the Albemarle County School Board, effective July 1, 2020.
I am sorry I am not with you in person tonight: I have pneumonia. (It could be worse, obviously.) When my husband and I moved here in 2006, we bought our house in Dunlora--910 Charter Oaks Drive, to be exact. We did not realize that, in fact, every possible effort would be made by county officials to ruin Albemarle county. One new development after another; thoughtless planning--I have been told that in a couple of these newer developments fire trucks and school buses cannot turn around. And the trees cut down! Terrible. "Dunlora Forest"--what a travesty. So we're back to the 1970s and indifference to the land, zoning, and density. Remember the song "They paved paradise and made it a parking lot"? Some carefully-thought-out development may be acceptable, but I beg of you to vote "no" on tonight's high-density suggestion. Carolyn McPherson
