15. 20-317 FY 2020 - FY 2021 Revised Proposed Operating and Capital Budgets. To receive comments on Revised Proposed Operating and Capital Budgets for FY 2020 - FY 2021.
Thank you for maintaining daytime staffing at the Stony Point Fire Dept. in this revised budget. The previous proposal to remove staff raised a number of issues and concerns for the Stony Point Community. It would have been dangerous for our families and elementary students, and potentially disastrous for home owners. On behalf of the more than 1,400 Albemarle Co. residents who signed our petition, we are grateful for your decision to prioritize public safety and fund our first responders.
I also oppose this project because we do not know what could be located in the buildings and how much traffic they would attract and what type of customers. It could be an adult bookstore and video next to the childcare center. It could be some kind of high volume business. And there doesn't seem to be anything preventing the applicant from deciding not to establish the child care center and just flipping the property as now zoned commercial and just making a pile of money.
